This is probably the story of most videomakers: when I was studying Audio Video, I dreamed of making movies. During the process I felt in love with documentaries but, facing reality, I ended up in TV, where the money is. Well, I actually managed to escape from TV (and from the busy city of Milan), but this is another story.
After doing a school for video reporters (ENG) in Spain, I had an opportunity back in Italy (my country) to write for TV. My writing skills had got me inside the TV business and, from there, into working as cameraman in proper productions.
I lived the craziness of brainstorming process writing series and TV formats, and I did sweat under never ending shooting as cameraman or director of photography.
there I learned how to solve impossible problems, thinking not if something is possible or not, but just about what will be the solution, because there is always one.
I like the challenge: you run against time and need to get the best out of the moment. I learned that giving your best is the only way to get the job done, it doesn’t matter how much they pay you or the importance of the person you are going to interview.
… the real award is to see how your idea takes shape, as all your thinking and writing and the endless presentations you did finally get a meaning. It is the light at the end of the tunnel, and you need to fight for it.
